The microprocessor of starshaped structure
Abstract
The development of an original star-shaped microprocessor structure is considered, in which the architectures of a superscalar microprocessor and a VLIW processor are combined. This approach makes it possible to increase performance by raising the number of instructions executed in parallel by the microprocessor without a corresponding increase in the length of VLIW instructions. This positive effect is achieved through the inherent internal parallelism of the proposed structure, where the microprocessor employs not only controlled arithmetic units but also arithmetic units that do not require explicit commands to set operating modes.
