Electronic devices based on semi-insulating materials
Abstract
New devices based on semi-insulators with qualitatively new properties and capabilities are described: highly efficient photodetectors covering the spectral range from ultraviolet to far infrared, including injection photodiodes with large internal amplification of photo-signals; solid-state cooling devices based on a new thermoelectric effect — injection heat transfer; semiconductor devices with negative differential resistance (S-diodes); solid-state structures with volumetric plasma coupling, enabling the creation of a new class of functional circuits, modules, and devices, including neuron-like systems.
