Calculation of the diffraction component of depth of focus in an optical microscope

Abstract

A mathematical framework is proposed for calculating the diffraction component of the depth of focus in an optical microscope according to the Rayleigh and Maréchal criteria. A comparative analysis of results obtained using known formulas and the newly proposed approach has been carried out.
