Growth of large cadmium tungstate single crystals with high optical homogeneity
Abstract
The technology of growing large (diameter 60–65 mm, length ≥140 mm) cadmium tungstate single crystals by the Czochralski method is considered. The physicochemical properties of CdWO₄ are presented. Technological techniques for obtaining crystals developed at NPP "Karat" are described. The optimal batch composition for crystal growth has been established. A thermal unit design was used that makes it possible to obtain crystals of the specified dimensions. Based on the grown crystals, scintillation detectors were manufactured and introduced into industrial production.
