Photochromic sensitivity of modified bacteriorhodopsin films for molecular electronics devices
Abstract
In the search for materials for molecular electronics, the possibility of modifying bacteriorhodopsin (BR) films with bifunctional cross-linking reagents has been investigated. BR films modified with glutaraldehyde exhibit photochromic sensitivity twice as high as unmodified films and retain this sensitivity for at least 120 days. The study shows that the introduction of bifunctional modifying reagents contributes to improved technological characteristics of BR-based materials.
