Cooling of promising hard disk drives using heat pipes

Abstract
A new design of a fanless cooling system for a hard disk drive (HDD) located inside an electronic computing device (ECD) is presented. The heat from the HDD is dissipated via heat pipes to a radiator mounted outside the ECD housing and cooled by the ambient air through natural convection. The results of thermal tests of a prototype of such a cooling system are presented. The cooling system does not consume electricity, generates no noise, and can be operated in dusty environments.
