Variable-brightness emitter based on coupled integrating spheres
Abstract
A fundamentally new illumination source is proposed for measuring the energy characteristics of digital electro-optical systems with focal plane arrays. The emitter consists of a primary integrating sphere with secondary integrating spheres mounted on it, each equipped with radiation sources. A mathematical model of the emitter and the results of experimental studies are presented. It is shown that the emitter can provide a brightness of 3,5·103 W/(sr·m2), a wide dynamic range of 106, and nonlinearity not exceeding 0.5%.
