Abstract

An industrial technology has been developed (thermal unit design, parameters of growth and monodomainization processes) that enables reproducible production of optically high-quality LiNbO₃ single crystals of large size (diameter > 80 mm, length ≥ 80 mm) by the Czochralski method. The high optical quality of the crystals (the value of anomalous birefringence does not exceed 10–5) is confirmed by studies of optical homogeneity using conoscopy and spontaneous parametric light scattering methods.
